The Unfortunate Teller isn’t your typical fortuneteller; rather the Unfortunate Teller sees the misfortune in the path of your future. A visit to the unfortunate teller is an enchanting and mystical experience that is unforgettable. Each participant will sit with the Unfortunate Teller and dive into the reading through mystical enchantments, numbers and the reading of your misfortune. But wait don’t despair just yet! Despite the hardship that awaits you, the Unfortunate Teller also has an antidote to offer to counter the misfortune you will behold.

The Unfortunate Teller’s Song

Mystic moon and heavy feather,
I am the one, the unfortunate teller.
I see the darkness in your path,
I see your skies deep pool of black.

I would tell you that I hate to see,
All your impending misery,
But alas that would be a ripe deceit
As your gloomy future is quite a treat.

Alas there must be a reason you find yourself here,
So pull up your chair and draw yourself near.
Let us dive into the future to be
It’s quite simple really, for what I see:

Is you’re unfortunate, that’s what’s written,
So fortune cannot be this fortune teller’s vision.

Instructions for the Unfortunate Teller:

1. Set up a small table with a chair on either side in a very public place.
2. Cover the table in a cloth, silk scarves, place stones and crystals on the table if you have any. Perhaps a small lamp with a scarf draped over it if you are indoors. (Try to make this table look as mystical as possible.)
3. You can accept donations from participants; this will act as your artist fee. (a small sign will be provided to you to set up at the table.)
4. In the role of the Unfortunate Teller, it is important that you speak slowly and calmly and that you overact your role. Gesture a lot. Assume the role of the mystic you are presenting yourself as.
5. As the time passes and the more peoples fortunes you read, feel free to take liberties and read them an entirely different fortune, or count more numbers than they chose…remember, this is an unfortunate reading….

Instructions for interaction with participants:

1. Ask your participant to sit in the chair
2. Ask them to clear their mind of all thoughts. 
3. You should ask them to open their heart and to listen to the universe.
4. Then you will proceed with the unfortunate telling as follows:

1. get your participant to choose one of the top four squares – read the enchantment as you open the unfortunate teller as many times as required until the mystical incantation is read
2. When you’ve stopped counting look inside and let the participant choose again.
3. Count the numbers, open close, side to side, and then choose again.
4. Whatever they choose, open that panel and read the fortune under the panel.
5. Give the unfortunate reader to the participant to take with them.
