GOOD WORK
2015-ongoing
“What if art wasn’t a profession? How would this change how we approach art as a discourse and practice? What if we were to consider artists not as employees of their art profession, but instead, supported ideas over the production of object? What if art wasn’t supported or created within a financial system and worked towards a capital free existence? What would that even look like?” – Approaches to the Making of (a) GOOD WORK
GOOD WORK – Art is a tool that belongs to everyone and it develops though life lived, relentless exploration, and constant intent. We must liberate ourselves from the imposed structures of capitalism and characterize art through terms of instability, unrest, transition, and fluctuation. We are not factories who produce goods in exchange for money, we are not a brand, and we are not ‘fiscally responsible.’ We are philosophers, students of humanity, Renaissance ‘men.’
Developed in response to the current state of artist-run-centre and independent gallery operations, GOOD WORK, is a proposed project and working model alternative to these types of spaces. GOOD WORK is not meant to unseat these spaces, but rather a hypothesis of a different method of operation.
