REVIENS BIEN
8mm films (telecine), C-Print black and white archival images, iPod touch screens, frames
2011
Reviens Bien was a part of the 2011 Halifax Independent Film Festival installed at The Khyber. A box of old family photos and 8mm films constructs a return to the past in an attempt to transform the present. These memories are indirect, altering my reality of perception. Reviens Bien is the premier investigation between various modes technology and my studio-based work. Here I employ the use of several iPod touch screens inserted into cut outs from the photographic images. The iPod screen switches between filling the image with the missing cut out and a clip from a home film. Set at different timing intervals, this work explores the tension between still and moving frames by placing the audience within the context of an Expanded Cinema experience.
